Second Year Anniversary

With the month of August comes a lot of other things. The hottest days, the last bit of summer vacation, and the anniversary of A Dash of Awkward.

ADOA has grown and evolved over the past two years. Originally, it was a capstone project- an assignment to close out my final year for my final year of college. Since then, A Dash of Awkward has showcased content highlighting political commentary, personal histories, self-expression and exploration, cultural ties, and more. From a personal capstone assignment, ADOA has grown into an online publication dedicated to featuring inclusive food narratives from around the world.

August 21, 2022 marks the start of a new year with A Dash of Awkward, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds. We are celebrating two years of being part of an amazing community that spans the globe. A Dash of Awkward holds gratitude for those that have contributed to the magazine, whether through submissions, interviews, or commissions. We wouldn’t be here without you!

And last, but not least, thank you to the people who have been with A Dash of Awkward from the beginning. Your support made it possible for us to achieve this milestone. To those who are joining us for the first time: Welcome! You’re in for a treat.

With the start of our third year, we promise to keep bringing you rich and inclusive content.

Look forward to different narratives, more videos and podcast episodes, and different forms of self-expression – all through food, whether fiction or non-fiction!
